Normally, I'd say it would be premature to give a book 5 stars sight unseen and before publication. But if you've seen any of Lippincott's artwork before - you understand.
A wealth of illustrations. Text interesting but it jumps from complex considerations of composition and design elements to offerings for only the simplest techniques of drawing, color mixing, etc. Not sure who the audience was meant to be.
A good read for people with "intermediate-level" drawing skill. This is not a basic technique book that elaborates small steps; but it does reveal enough detail for me to actually learn new things about fantasy drawing. I think the final short chapter, "Professional Development", is full of neat tips relevant for today's artists.
Beautiful book, well designed, well layed out, which is what is taught in the book... the book is the business card to quality...
