This is not a book that I would normally choose, but someone offered it to me after they were done with it, and I'm always up for trying something I don't normally read (broadening my horizons and all that) so after reading the back of this book I thought, why not. Sounds like a decent enough story, at least.

The background of this story IS decent. There's a solid foundation (a man being framed for the murder of his wife) and the writing itself is all right, even though I noticed quite a few show more typos.

My biggest issue with this book was how it glamorizes the ghetto/gangsta lifestyle. Violence, drugs, and high-rolling are seen as normal and encouraged, and yes, this book is written with such an audience in mind, which I also have an issue with. I've seen the negative impact that the ghetto lifestyle/mindset/culture has on people in real life, and wish that the book had not made it seem so "cool". show less

"Mr. and Mrs. Black" by Roy Glenn

My Thoughts....

This was a good 'Mike Black' saga that dealt mainly with the Black's family business and adventure. This time the focus wasn't only about Mike and his wife Cassandra but also of her aunt and uncle as they became involved in a mystery military espionage due to 'art and the ancient history world.' As usual we find guns that will come show more out and will be given quite a interesting read. Along with all of that we still see that Mike and Shy are still deeply in love. The characters are all true to form as begin well developed and portrayed giving the reader a intriguing journey of a read.

So, if you are looking for a action pack read with lots of adventure you have come to the right place for 'Mr. and Mrs. Black' will bring it all to you. show less

My Thoughts....

Well, all I can say is this author has given the readers another good read about Mike Black. I loved how we were able to learn even more of this series and definitely of certain characters such as Bobby, Vicki and Freeze. This story was definitely a prequel to the fist book of the Mike Black show more series. When I first read the title I wondered what more could this author give the reader about Mike Black and I see it was definitely done is such a good way showing us 'how Mike Back went from a drug kingpin's enforcer to a partner' that walked us trough the earlier days of that time. In other words Mike Back's beginnings of his rise to power. Be ready for a little bit of it all coming in this action paced read. show less

My Thoughts...

I loved how this story focused on Mike Black's realizing that he needed a change in his life especially after he goes on a killing spree after the death of one of his own due to his carelessness. It was on a trip...vacation to the islands where he learns and starts to enjoy what peace and relaxation on show more the beach could bring him and letting him realize just how reckless he had been working with rage and mostly not with a said plan. Mike Black realizing he needed a change in his life [stopping with all the rage and anger] and having Wanda by his side helping him with organizing intelligently the 'Mike Black Family business would definitely be a plus along with as always Bobby Ray, Mike's brother being at his side. I liked how this author was able to give the reader the vulnerable side of Mike Black all wrapped up in such a interesting package and becoming a 'Changed Man.' show less
