I have just page 61 through page 96, and no cover, of this original printing from the Feb 1843 periodical. However the stories are interesting and seem mostly nonfiction. There is some poetry, some music verses and some pen and ink illustrations. Story subjects include the capture of Pocahontas, rescue of Capt. Smith . and others that might be fiction or commentary, such as "The Open Hand" by Mrs. Annan. The writing style, and topics were so different then, that the stories are interesting show more reading. There are a few detailed illustrations of women but they do not look like contemporary style fashion graphic art. show less
Colored fashion plates are missing but there are several other nice hand-colored plates plus several striking engravings. Also a satirical article on a Men's Rights meeting. Spine is missing, Front board held on only with old Scotch tape.
Battered copy, missing spine and front cover, colored fashion plates missing.
