This is a collection of Maxfield Parrish's early illustrations, along with a brief introductory biography. Parrish is one of my favorite artists, and this is an excellent selection of rarely seen works by him, but after having become well-acquainted with his wonderful use of color, it is a disappointment to see these works in black and white. Of historical interest more than for aesthetic pleasure.
Designed for students and sophisticated international travelers, this attractive package stresses practical training in spoken English for Spanish-speakers, with audio simulations of social and business situations a typical visitor is likely to encounter in English-speaking countries. Four 90-minute cassettes are accompanied by a complete written script of the dialogue, both in English and in Spanish, so that students of English can read along as they listen to the English-language show more conversations. For help with grammar and other details of English, a handsome text book guides the student toward fluency and also provides both fascinating and up-to-date information about U.S. culture and customs. Full-color photos show typical American scenes, city and rural, from coast-to-coast. Barron's all-new Via Rapida (Express Track) program teaches English on a slightly more difficult level than the Facil y Rapido (Fast and Fun Way) program. show less
