Short biography
Isabelle was born a Princess of the defunct Empire of Brazil, the eldest daughter of Prince Pedro d’Orleans-Braganza. She travelled widely in childhood visiting aristocratic relatives. In 1931, she married her cousin Henri d'Orléans, comte de Paris, the pretender to the throne of France. They had 11 children and more than 100 descendants. In addition to three volumes of memoirs, beginning with Tout m’est Bonheur, she wrote biographies of Queen Marie-Amélie, the wife of King Louis-Philippe, and Marie-Antoinette.
