This is a beautiful anthology of poetry by Ruth Graham Bell, both in its layout, and in the artistry of her words. All the verses are unmetered, and while normally I would be complaining about this, preferring metered poetry as I do, there is such lightness and grace in her words, that metre would be somehow overdone and heavy. For the most part, the poems are arranged chronologically throughout Ruth's life. I would have loved to see poems from the years when her children were young, but I show more guess she was too busy raising them to be indulging in writing. So there is a gap of about 25 years over this period. There is a heavy use of Whitespace throughout the book, which gives a visual sense of rest, and scenic photos scattered throughout. While I'm glad these photos were included, I can't say I like any of the scenes. Perhaps this is due to the age of the book; photographic books of today tend to have clearer pictures.
In all this book is a spiritual blessing and a treasure, and I look forward to revisiting it again and again. show less

This was a book filled with snapshots of things Ruth Bell Graham (wife of Billy Graham), remembered down through the years. From her time in China as a youth, her time in North Korea at a boarding school, to her time married to Billy and raising a family, Ruth shares what she has learned down through the years and gives us a peek into life with the Grahams. I wish I could have met this lady, as after reading her book, I feel like she is someone I could have easily been friends with. She show more shares warm and loving ways of how God was faithful to her family. Easy to read and many things to ponder and remember. I finished this book feeling blessed to have read it. show less
Ruth Graham tells of her life as a missionary child and then as the wife of a man who was seldom home. She talks about the problems she faced with her 5 children, and how the Bible was her constant source of nourishment of her soul. Great insights of a woman who admitted her human failings but succeeded in life. Inspiring.
1st - 6th grade. Imagery is gorgeous. colors deep. Tells the Christmas story so may have to be selective with who the book is shared with. Told in a wonderful way through the ears of a little lost boy
