This book amazed me. I love how it tells so many aspects of war, through poetry. Poetry is beautiful, and as a writing model it is awesome. I was not exposed to much poetry growing up, and now as a future teacher, I am exposing myself to it. I would like the children that I teach to have an appreciation for all of the genres and ways of writing. My favorite thing about this book is the illustrations. They are so real and representative. It almost felt as if I was in the setting myself, just show more from adoring the illustrations. show less
Music and Drum: Voices of War and Peace, Hope and Dreams is beautifully illustrated. The images on each page fit perfectly behind the message of the poems. This collection of poems that reveal the pain of violence/war and the hope/joy children find in times of peace.
This poetry book is full of miscellaneous poems about war, peace, hope, and dreams. It tells of many aspects of a war through poetry. There are poems in regards to letter to home, hoping for a brighter day, the sounds or war, and what happens during and after a war. I loved this book because of how it explained war aspects beautifully through poetry.
Very helpful! I got a lot of practical advice. The author includes step by step instructions for different grade levels in her strategy lessons.
