Coming into a series like this missing the 1st volume, it's sometimes difficult to figure out who's who and just what the point is. Although I did have a bit of a hard time at the beginning, once the flashback scenes were done with (although I don't believe they were part of the 1st volume) I did quickly get into it. In this volume, the young(?!) Warrior Woman recovers from her injuries at a Palace of "Games" that hides a sickening secret even the owner is unaware of! We learn of an ancient show more creature who continued to survive after Akameshi wounded it 50 years ago! It seems that there is much of special to this woman - not the least of which being that she can see into the spirit world! Very entertaining! show less
I didn't want to wait too long between reading the second volume of this series (especially as I was bringing them to my father to read who turns 71 on December 2nd!).
The second volume is where a lot of the action picks up and we see Luce and Timo struggle to get away from the killers (who get double-crossed from the political assassin!). We find out more about the "Old Peoples" and the Alien Invaders (who need to wear full-body suits since the world's air causes them to burn/ melt/ show more evaporate!).
The pace is much quicker as we are on the run from too many people, not many of whom we're even aware of! A good follow-up. show less

It had been a while since I read an Italian graphic novel, so I figured I'd get to one of the last remaining series I have (I need to get more! :) ).
This book is written by the same guy who wrote Akameshi and it contains a similar story style with strong characters.
A new world, built on old foundations, flying cities, "alien" invaders, and political intrigue, all wrapped together in a coming-of-age story for two young characters (Timo and Luce). There's a lot of information to take in Volume show more 1 as we are introduced to all these characters and this world. A political assassination plot is interrupted by the resurgence of alien invaders who have come to reclaim what they once lost.
As the end approaches, our two valiant heroes are caught hanging (literally) by a cable, doom below them, two killers above, a political traitor waiting just around the corner!
It was a little tough for me to get into, and the phrasing also made it a little difficult, but overall, it was an enjoyable read. show less

Confusing. I suspect a the original was also confusing, but that some bad translation is also at fault. It was like walking into a foreign film halfway through. There is action and dialogue, but none of it makes any sense.
It's recommendations like this that make me want to ditch my comixology subscription.
