I really enjoyed this. I wasn't sure about the three-in-one format, but it was really kind of nice. Our four bishie boys and Sunako were all amusing as always and there were some nice quasi-'shippy parts with Sunako and Kyohei. Also, this had a bit of a supernatural twist story where Sunako is possessed by a cat demon which I enjoyed.
I saw an uncorroborated comment on amazon that Del Rey is discontinuing its manga division. Hopefully this is just a viscious rumor or confusion on the part of show more the commenter between Del Rey and TokyoPop (which I know has closed up). I'll be quite sad if it turns out I can't get any more Wallflower stories! :( I'm really enjoying the series and would love to read through to the end. show less

The Wallflower 1: Yamatonadeshiko Shichihenge (Wallflower: Yamatonadeshiko Shichenge) by Tomoko Hayakawa
Blood. Ghosts. Creatures of light! No, this isn’t a vampire-horror graphic novel. This is a wacky story about 4 hot guys with a mission to turn their landlady’s homely neice into a stunner, so they can get free rent. But when the poor thing looks like the girl from the movie The Ring, do the boys even have a chance? You’ll have to read the rest to find out. You’ll be laughing and cheering through out the whole series.

Basically about a bunch of young guys renting and coming up short with money, so their landlady comes up with a way for them to earn their keep, by transforming her niece from a weird outcast to an attractive young woman. Easier said than done, but with oh so hilarious effects.
The Wallflower 9: Yamatonadeshiko Shichihenge (Wallflower: Yamatonadeshiko Shichenge) by Tomoko Hayakawa
This series continues to deliver with its odd mix of horror and comedy. In this one, when the landlady decides that a night in bed with Kyohei might feminize Sunako, she kidnaps them to her reclusive mansion where she keeps an armed guard at the door. After this not so successful plan Kyohei is kidnapped once again in an attempt to return him to his home town. A not so joyous reunion with his parents along with a not so pleasant comment by Sunako sends Kyohei over the edge and out on his show more own.
It is funny how the manga-ka has worked in so many similarities between the very dissimilar Kyohei and Sunako. However, I think my favorite part had to be Yuki's heroics. I've never seen a rescue so rife with cringing and crying LOL! Either the artwork is beginning to grow on me or the artwork is getting much better. The eyes continue to be the strongest feature although chibi Sunako's faceless persona is almost cute in its own way.
I'm still really enjoying this series a lot and look forward to reading more! show less
