Italian novella of the 16th century, a worthy, if not so great, descendant of Boccaccio, the author, Straparola, tells gutsy, sometimes bawdy tales which are here beautifully printed, bound in silk in two volumes, and illustrated by E. R. Hughes. Edition limited to 1,000 sets. Copy No.503 There are bookplates of two previous owners - Hall of Otterburn, and John Pomeroy, the latter showing Sydney Harbour bridge, opera house, etc. (Andrew Peake catalogue No. 4316)
Nothing too titillating; a couple of stories are very humorous though.
