Faith and Practice of Baltimore Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends 1988 by Baltimore Yearly Meeting
Concise. To the point. Short enough to be readable for those afraid of non-fiction and theology. Written at the time of the "consolidation" of Baltimore Yearly Meeting (Orthodox) and Baltimore Yearly Meeting (Hicksite), it left much unsaid so that both groups could unite behind it. It contains sample letters to be written for membership, marriage, traveling minutes, and the like. It does not contain a glossary.
It needs quite a bit of work. Too many quotations by the same voices. Citations not complete. But it is a good start and has a lot of good advice for meetings in how to organize themselves and that type of thing. Let us see what 2012 can bring.
It is what it is!! Having said that, I must say it is amazing that it took me all these years to actually read what procedures we have in place, AND how many of those procedures we don't actually adhere to (okay, so my English grammar isn't adhered to, either!). At any rate, I would humbly suggest that Quakers the world over, should read their own Yearly Meeting's manuals and find out what it is they have agreed to (oops, there I go, again)!
