Re read again in July 2013. Still fabulously filthy.

It’s true, Davey has possibly got the most readable ass I’ve read this month. If you buy this gem for any reason, buy it for his ass alone. His behind was so well described and so well loved that even I was contemplating giving it a gold star. heh.

Two Man Team carries on from Jet’s previous book One For The Team, set within a couple of months of a wedding and of Davey, Jason et al. getting it on. Davey makes a few gentle suggestions show more to Jason that maybe he’d like to get the band back together, with some chicks, and so they do. There is much surreptitious watching of each other and almost touching during their sexorin fest, and until finally they end up in the sack, just the two of them. Nice.

Normally the whole chick as an add on can kinda squick me, as it often feels like she’s just the tag along. Unless the book is a purpose written menage. The way the author handled this was nicely done and even though they’re not a huge focus, how they’re dealt with was nicely written. I guess this was kinda important to me, that it fed and drove the plot rather than adding a random sex scene.

The chemistry between Davey and Jason was unspeakably hot and there are a couple of scenes that need some kind of achievement certificate or well done! Seriously, they were so filled with tension, angst and raw sexual appeal I am quite sure my wee iphone won’t ever be the same.

Jason’s voice was easy to read and at times provided surprising and unexpected turns in character. I liked that I was not really sure what was going to happen next. Sometimes I feel so jaded, I can tell you where a story is going. I think I read too much! But this was just a little different. And, was it just me or was Davey’s ass really that hypnotic?

A wickedly hot read and I liked it lots. Get it from Loose Id.

The title and cover of this anthology from the relatively new MLR Press implies a little bondage, but that’s misleading. The theme is what ties lovers together, be it restraints, need or simple love. There are five stories, though one is actually an excerpt from the popular book “A Bit of Rough” by Laura Baumbach. I don’t like excerpts included in story collections, but the novel did start out as a story before Laura expanded it and people new to her writing will appreciate a show more “taste.” I usually don’t buy anthologies as I don’t want a good story to end, but this is a very good collection. I picked it up mainly because I love JL Langley’s work and was looking for something to tide me over until her next book. I never imagined I would like one of the other stories more.

“Key to Me” by Jet Mykles is by far my favorite in the collection. The story is seductive, and sexy with a teasing plot that drew me in. Noah is somewhat of a player, bouncing from one lover to the next never finding someone he wanted to stay with - until he starts receiving gifts from a secret admirer. He’s intrigued, and becomes obsessed with discovering the giver. The secret admirer finally arranges for them to meet, only Noah must be blindfolded and very lightly bound the entire time. The sex is hot as Noah flirts with a little danger and the possibility of love. Though I guessed the secret lover almost immediately, it didn’t dim the suspense as Noah is wooed by the unknown man. The ending was heartwarming, tender and more than a little steamy! I will look for more by Mykles.

“Roughly Tied Together” by Laura Baumbach is the excerpt. I’d recommend newcomers just skip this and go straight for the novel – much more satisfying!

“Gift of Eros” by Kimberly Gardner was enjoyable, but the ending felt unfinished. Val is a college grad student who has a hot one-night stand (or so he thought) with the new transfer student, Dylan. Only Dylan is much more than he seems. Val finds himself with a choice – the promise of falling in love and it being returned, or taking a greater risk. Dylan and Val are a great couple, and they have piping hot sex, but I felt their story was rushed at the end. Good, but a few more pages would have made it excellent.

“Rough Ride” by Laura Baumbach was released previously as an e-book stand alone short story. It features the men from “A Bit of Rough” having some fun in the snow, before heading back for some fun by the fireplace. James and Bram are a wonderful couple, and Laura excels at writing sensuous lovemaking with a “bit of rough”! Readers need not have read the novel and its sequel, but they do make the story better as readers know the men’s history together.

“One Good Favor” – by JL Langley and Dick D was a surprising and wonderful submission. Langley has an entire paranormal series about werewolves, but I didn’t expect this tale to fall in that genre. It was a clever, fun story about a rodeo rider looking for a new horse and finds more than he bargained for! I really enjoyed it, and wouldn’t mind reading another story about Aaron’s brother Adam.

Overall, this is a solid collection with a couple of real gems. Highly recommended!

So I loved [b:Heaven|3236765|Heaven (Heaven Sent, #1)|Jet Mykles|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1306077372s/3236765.jpg|3271400], and thought it would be hard to top. Johnnie and Tyler grew on me in such a short time, and I didn’t really like Luc in that book. Boy was I wrong. Luc is the shit!

Luc and Reese’s week was great, and it was wonderful to see Luc treating it as more than sex, nor was Reese’s denial unexpected. But I thought the best part was after their week. The way Luc left, show more leaving no other option than to pursue his dream was absolutely horrible and wonderful at the same time. The scene… OMG. I don’t blame Reese for wanting to kill Luc.

Reese going through the next few months, breaking apart and then picking up the pieces to start anew was probably the best part in any of these books so far. The story got some depth with it, it wasn't just sex and lurrrrve seen through rose tinted glasses. And when he got the package back up, Luc seized his moment and came to claim what was rightfully his.

If the men on the cover of ‘Valet’ look just a tiny bit familiar to some of you, as they did to me when I first laid eyes on it, that turns out to be entirely intentional. As became apparent when I read the letter from the author at the beginning of the book, Tyler and Johnnie are "reincarnations" from the ‘Heaven Sent’ series. I loved those books, so I was interested to see what Jet Mykles had come up with. The ‘Rose Family Chronicles’ take place in an alternate reality version show more of the early 1800s, in England, and that made a huge difference in the feel of the story. It did nothing to reduce my enjoyment when reading the novel.

Tyler is in dire need of a well-paying job so he can help support his widowed sister and her baby daughter. They lost their parents a while ago, and while their uncle can help out, he is not rich. Tyler decides to apply as a footman in the household of the Earl of Rose, and gets hired partly due to his prior experience as an assistant concierge in a big hotel. Tyler is a hard worker, but when the earl himself requests his services as a personal valet, a position Tyler is totally unqualified for, Tyler balks. Not that he can resist the earl’s charms, and it isn’t too long before he succumbs in every way and ends up in the earl’s bed. The tension between his position in society and the way that Johnnie treats him is significant, and I was glued to the pages wanting to find out how Tyler was going to deal with it.

Johnnie has only recently become the Earl of Rose, following his father’s death. He likes taking over the management of Rose Hall and the estate that goes with it, especially the theaters his family supports. He prefers men to women and has been quite a player, but when he meets Tyler all that changes. He will do almost anything to get Tyler to share his bed, but his butler makes sure Tyler is protected – much to Johnnie’s initial annoyance. The better he gets to know Tyler, the more Johnnie realizes he has to be very careful and more patient than ever before in his life if he doesn’t want to chase the man away. He doesn’t even know if Tyler is gay! The chase that follows was a lot of fun to watch, and I admired Johnnie for his (mostly) restrained and considerate approach.

The vast chasm between Tyler ad Johnnie’s positions in society is not the only obstacle they have to overcome. While, in this world, the King and Queen of England have taken a male lover and make no secret of it, gay relationships are still frowned upon. There is the threat of Johnnie having to marry to get an heir, and even though he has no intention to do anything of the kind, there is a woman who has a very different view of things – and she causes quite a bit of mayhem. Added to all the details about running a noble household, the social events, and organizing the theater season, this novel was an absolute delight to read.

While Tyler and Johnnie may be (mostly) the same men, but the fact that they live in the past changes everything. The plot is not the same as the one in the first volume of the ‘Heaven Sent’ series either, and I quickly got involved in this new setup. Some of the characters from ‘Heaven Sent’ have already appeared, in very different positions, and some are still to turn up, I am sure. Whether you read the previous books or not though, the ‘Rose Family Chronicles’ looks like a very promising series in its own right. With the somewhat changed history, the slightly different order of historical events, and a setting that reminded me of steampunk in some instances, it is entertainment of the best kind as far as I am concerned.

If you like historicals set in an alternate version of our past, if you want to know what an earl and his personal valet might get up to behind closed doors, and if you’re looking for a read that is entertaining, suspenseful, full of beautiful clothes and nobility, and a heartwarming ending that had me sigh, then you will probably like this novel as much as I do. I can’t wait for more stories set in this new universe that Jet Mykles has created!
