Growing beautiful food : a gardener's guide to cultivating extraordinary vegetables and fruit by Matthew Benson
Beautiful photography seems to be the raison d'ĂȘtre of this book, and possibly of the farm it describes. The author, after all, makes his living as a food photographer. Philosophical writing dominates the first portion of the book. "A small organic farm can be a work of political art"; "By farming and growing food, we ... begin to think and imagine like plants ... Our dreams become lucid and almost photosynthetic...."; "A small farm is as much a proposition, a cultural idea, as an actual show more place." Perhaps. But I would love to learn about how, and if, a small farm that is an actual place can provide a living for a family and not just a piece of performance art. show less
