Beautiful photography seems to be the raison d'être of this book, and possibly of the farm it describes. The author, after all, makes his living as a food photographer. Philosophical writing dominates the first portion of the book. "A small organic farm can be a work of political art"; "By farming and growing food, we ... begin to think and imagine like plants ... Our dreams become lucid and almost photosynthetic...."; "A small farm is as much a proposition, a cultural idea, as an actual show more place." Perhaps. But I would love to learn about how, and if, a small farm that is an actual place can provide a living for a family and not just a piece of performance art. show less
