I was drawn to the premise of this novel; a mysterious cult like religious community, hidden secrets, and a haunted past. This novel started out pretty slow, but the creepiness of the community and the author's descriptive writing kept the pages turning. There is a sense of unease while reading this novel. Something is wrong, but what? The plot pace picks up about 50% through, and it is dark, suspenseful, tense, and emotional. The author also manages to mix a little forbidden romance into show more the plot. I enjoyed this novel for what it is; a story of a woman's raw and real journey to set herself and others free and find herself.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Thank you, Booksirens and Joyce Harrington, for the arc.
