The time to ask the hard questions is before the epidemic darkens our door. This could be one of the church's finest hours if it can show compassion and wisdom without appearing to compromise its beliefs.
Although major new programs are proposed, ccrucial spiritual questions go unanswered. Are provisions for day-care legislation further tipping the balance against the traditional family unit?
Video will be for the nineties what flannelgraph was for the forties. Leaders are also finding that film and video can spark lively discussion. Drama changes the way we look at life, regard people, interpret circumstances. It provides the opportunity and permission for people to fantasize, to enter the experience of others, and to explore new personal territory. The viewer identifies with those on screen. When done well, drama gives us a safe testing ground for asking the 'what would it be show more like if . . . ' questions of ourselves. Those questions can get a non-Christian wondering what it would be like to be a Christian. show less
Will American Christians learn how to live the gospel in a non-Christian nation? Much of the rest of the world has already learned how to live the gospel under harsh circumstances.
