Ideal for beginning readers, this lively, inspiring, and believable biography looks at the childhood of Wild West showman Buffalo Bill Cody: Pony Express rider, scout, showman, and buffalo hunter.
The Childhood of Famous Americans is a terrific set of biographies written for children. Easy to read, descriptive writing style, these books make history come alive. Highly recommended.
Fairly decent book for children. Simple sentence construction. I would say that this book is targeted to 3rd or 4th graders who want to learn more about Lincoln. Some stories are repeated that may or may not be true. However, given the target audience, that is fine.
I used this book for my Famous Americans Unit. It is part of a wonderful series of books that really help young students develop research skills. It is written in a story format but has a wealth of historical information that can be used in a report. It is broken down in to a chronological time line which is easy to follow. Can be easily read by third graders and up.
