I didn’t know what to expect when I started to read Try Try Again. I had wanted to read this author’s books for a long time based on recommendations and blog interaction, but wasn’t sure what I would find. I’m sorry I waited this long. Ruth Logan Herne is a fantastic romance author and I can’t wait to read everything I can find with her byline.
Try Try Again is not your typical romance but more of the second-chance category. So appealing to not always have the young romantics as the show more hero/heroine. And what depth of character! Conor and Alicia were both so well done. I feel like they’re old friends. I also loved the fact that the majority of the book is from Conor’s point of view. He is such an awesome heroine. The reader will fall in love with him from the first page.
Alicia is the heroine you love to hate – then suddenly you just love her. Her personality is fabulous. Kim and Addie are fun characters, Grayce is adorable, but my absolute favorite is Foster. Love than houseman!
Ruth’s unique blend or humor, light sarcasm and drama make Try Try Again a book you might try and try again to put down but it won’t work. You’ll continually crave the next page as you work your way through the obstacles surrounding Conor and Alicia. You’ll cheer them on ever hoping for but never sure of a happily-ever-after ending.
Are the odds against Conor and Alicia too high? Is what they once had irretrievable? Has too much pain and misunderstanding passed between them? Pick up a copy of Try Try Again. You won’t be putting it down anytime soon. show less

All I can say is “Wow, what an emotional ride.” Ruth Logan Herne pulled every emotion from me in Reclaiming Hope in Wishing Bridge.
As Heather returns home to Hopewell (a small community near Wishing Bridge) after a natural disaster and tragedy have devastated the town, she’s forced to confront the past she left behind seventeen years ago. Between never feeling accepted and the betrayal of her high school boyfriend, Heather had good reason to leave. And she’s paved a good life for show more herself.
Herne does not shy away from difficult topics like grief, abuse (emotional and physical), or town politics. Instead, the author incorporates these things into the story and makes the reader feel the emotions along with the characters. But best of all, through the growing pains and the facing the past, those characters we are journeying with find hope and forgiveness and joy.
Grab a box of Kleenex and settle in for a story that will drag you through the wringer and put you out on the other side with the truth that God’s timing in all things is perfect.

Well written, contemporary romance book that confronts hard issues--end stage cancer, neglect, bitterness, and loving people in spite of their wrong choices. Character's are flawed and realistic, lovable and three dimensional. Ruthy's trademark snarky humor sparkles in her heroine's dialogue.
I would recommend this book to anyone. Especially someone caring for an elderly or terminally ill relative.

“Wishing Bridge. . . where prayers and wishes mingle to make dreams come true.”
It’s always a treat to read one of Ruth Logan Herne’s books, and Kindling Christmas in Wishing Bridge is no exception. Herne is a master at writing beautiful, meaningful, moving small-town stories and populating them with delightful, engaging characters. I enjoyed meeting Nora Corrigan and her adorable daughter Emmy, and also hero Luke Talbot, who has returned reluctantly to Wishing Bridge to help the show more residents following a deadly storm. When Luke saves Nora’s life, he feels responsible for her. I loved seeing the relationship grow and change between the two as they help each other.
“Her joy wasn’t dependent on another person. It came straight from the strength within her.”
The addition of a mystery element gave extra interest to the story, and, as always, Herne seamlessly incorporates an inspirational message which adds depth. Themes of redemption, forgiveness, faith, and hope resonate with this beautiful Christmas story. 4.5 stars
