WARNING: Contains Spoilers

Algonquin is a dog who has survived a kennel fire which claimed the life of his mother and siblings. The protagonist desires Algonquin as his own but his grandfather is reluctant for he was once very attached to bird dogs and is still dissapointed because all his dogs have come to early deaths. This novel is philosophical, protagonist charming and description optimal.
