A remarkable document, interesting today for its insight into the early days of color photography.
1938: "Color film can now be purchased for all the more popular sizes of roll film cameras. A single shot for a Leica, Bantam, Contax, Retina, or any of the 35mm. cameras will cost about 15 cents for Kodachrome and about 10 cents for Dufaycolor A 21/2 by 41/4 in. roll film shot costs about 30 cents. An 8 by 10 in. costs $3.50.
These prices will probably come down."
This was in a day when the show more minimum wage wage just being established, at 25ยข/hour. The implication is that a 36-exposure roll of Kodachrome (processed) is in the ballpark of $5.40 - about three days' pay. (The equivalent today of roughly $5-per-slide, $150 for the entire roll.) show less
