Joanna Neborsky

I don't know much about Joanna Neborsky. I looked on her website (http://www.joannaneborsky.com); it seems she is having some success with creating illustrations, although I did not spend too much time looking for biographical details. As far as I know she has no particular interest or expertise in HPL

At Home with H.P. Lovecraft is self published at Lulu.com. The price is > $18 with shipping charges attached for an approximately 30 page booklet. Ms. Neborsky has taken some of the opening show more lines from The Call of Cthuhu, and created some whimsical pictures to accompany the text. There are several caricatures of HPL, in a chef apron, for example, or blowing bubbles or doing chores. The illustrations have nothing to do with the text except perhaps in a contorted tangential way. I suppose she is successful in her way but I didn't care for any of it; I'd be shocked if had spent longer than 15 minutes on any particular drawing. When I opened the book, my first thought was, gee there isn't much here, and then, is she serious? These look like sketches dashed off by a mediocre art student doodling during math class.

Mythos/Lovecraftian art completists may want a copy. Anyone else would be well advised to look before they buy. At the asking price it is a complete rip off (suckered again by dismal Lovecraftiana, darn it). show less
