Though not a captivating read, just because of the nature of the subject, Catherine Hezser presents a thorough description of the available knowledge about slavery in Judaean society and Jews as slaves. Two additional valuable aspects of the book from a readers perspective are that she also discusses concepts about slavery as a whole rather than assuming that the reader already knows, and she does not use overly technical terminology.
