Short biography
Ruby El Hult was born in Idaho, grew up in Washington, and was intensely interested in the history of the Pacific Northwest. She wrote books on railroads, conservation, forest fires, steamboats, and the Olympic Mountains. She outlived two husbands, but continued to write under her maiden name. She donated most of her original manuscripts, notes, photos, and correspondence to the University of Washington and Washington State Universities.
