As the synopsis and a previous reviewer identify; it is 10 narratives comprising excellent ficitonal stories about the women involved with William Shakespeare of whom he has written about (such as Lady Macbeth).

Very well written with the author showing a good understanding of the ladies she has chosen to write about. One of the narratives I didn't enjoy and that was letters back and forth from father to daughter. Apart from this one, the other 9 were a joy to read.

Knowledge of Shakespeare show more leads to a different understanding of the text; however if you have never even heard of the man you will still enjoy it as it's simply a set of stories about a bloke who was around a lot of women!!

I liked the writing style, I like discovering snippets about Shakespeare that in my day dreams whilst teaching the man I often consider. It doesn't have to be read in a few sittings as each chapter is a unique story - thereby making good bedtime reading.

Good fun, worth a read.

Ten stories about both the real and ficitonal women in Shakespeare's life. Well written and wonderfully imagined.
