Lyon at the Altar by Lily Harlem
A Lyon’s Den Connected World Story
Young love thwarted is given a second chance to flourish a couple years later via the Black Widow’s efforts. Intriguing idea and would love to know more about the veiled dressed in black woman who spins happily ever after endings for her clients.
What I liked:
* That there was immediate chemistry between Anna and Frank
* That both Anna and Frank loved their mothers
* The reason the couple were unable to come together show more originally was believable
* Thinking about the manipulation that must have been done to have Frank win the woman who would be his wife
* That it was a sweet but also steamy story and rightly so since the two were always hot for one another
* The way it all worked out rather predicably
* There were no real horrors for either of them to have to overcome
What I didn’t like:
* Thinking about the bigotry and class system of the haves versus the people they felt less than themselves
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Yes
Thank you to NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review.

My friend Deanna, from Deanna's World (https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/4901136-deanna-from-deanna-s-world) introduced me to Lily Harlem, and so far, I have enjoyed her writing very much. Her writing style is so delightfully British that it's a nice change of pace for this American girl... even if I don't always understand some of the slang and terminology. I have a great time trying to read with a British accent in my head (and sometimes out loud).
This was a unique take on a steamy show more paranormal tale. Our heroine, Beatrice, is a butcher girl with a rare blood type. No really, a butcher girl, carving up steaks and chops and the whole shebang! I haven't seen that before, so it was a refreshing change of pace from the college students in the new adult books I've been reading lately. We had two (yes TWO) sexy sophisticated vampire heroes, who were unique in their own right. One seemed to be the brains and the other brawn, and together they were a dynamic duo of vampire yummy! And the smexytime was H-O-T hot. The villain is revealed as jealous old female vamp who wants Bea for her blood type. There wasn't a ton of action in this first installment, but you can tell that there will be lots of it to come.
This was a quick read, very well-written, with a slight cliffie at the end. Lucky for you, the next book (Claw Mark) is already out! show less

Lily Harlem’s Russian Heat melts the ice with its heat factor. Flight attendant Samantha Headington and NHL player Vadmir Arefyev plan on having a one-night-stand but faith has other things in store. This contemporary sports romance takes place in Florida and Russia. It is suitable for adult audiences.
I enjoyed Samantha’s character. She reminded me of Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) from Sex and the City. She likes her designer clothes. She seems put-together and classy. She enjoys sex and show more gets what she wants. I like Vadmir. He is a good son and brother. I appreciate that he takes care of his family. He is very generous. I found it amusing how he kept getting his slang wrong, and Samantha kept correcting him. Samantha and Vadmir have hot chemistry. They are a fun couple. They get along great and complement one another.
I enjoyed the plot. I thought it was clever how Samantha’s and Vadmir’s one-night-stand turned into more. I loved the Russian aspect of the story. My parents were both born in Hungary. A lot of the culture is similar, and I found myself relating. The story had some interesting twists and complications. Russian Heat is an enjoyable read. It had a good ending. I also, liked the bonus Hot Ice short story, Rookie Rules.

: As you read this one, you might need to make a cold shower your best friend.
Welsh physiotherapist is hired by the Orlando Vipers to provide her healing touch after she proves successful with hot, if not somewhat primitive, Raven. Her gig is short-term, but she takes advantage of the opportunity to leave cold rainy London for warm sunny Florida. She also takes advantage show more of the opportunity to get close to Todd, Raven’s best friend and teammate.
And kids, they are teammates on and off the ice. If you know what I mean.
The first big sex scene (in a book rather full of sex scenes) comes when Raven and Todd share Fiona. On a kitchen table. Fiona likes what she experiences. So much so that she immediately begins fantasizing about doing it again. Meanwhile, she’s staying in Raven’s home, so those two get a little closer. And by “close,” I mean they have some hot sexy times. Todd joins them when he can, but the couple of the story is Raven and Fiona.
What plot there is to this book is negligible. It basically serves as a means of getting from one hot sex scene to the next. And those sex scenes. Oh, people. Those sex scenes are HOT. When we meet Fiona, she seems a little reserved, but once the clothes come off, she is adventurous and curious. Raven is, uh, quite well endowed and wields his manhood as deftly as an ice hockey stick. As for Todd, he knows how to scratch Fiona’s itches.
Read this one for the smokin’ hot sexy times. But be warned that you will need something to take the edge off after you finish. Cold showers, Hitachi wands, a man friend. You’ll need it! show less
