Not exactly a romance, not exactly a mystery, I settled on chick lit- Yukon that's not right either. I was actually really impressed by this book. So impressed that I bought the next two books in the series. The author had me intrigued for the whole book. It was not predictable at all. A great story about love and power.
As the second in the series, I fully expected to be disappointed. Not happening!!!! Bourdon again fills the pages with just enough to keep the interest going. I couldn't wait to see how things progressed. I love the sense of humor and grit that the characters display.
Despite the absolutely crazy premise, I really enjoyed this book. The situations, yes, are completely ludicrous. But there were so many unexpected twists and turns with the story, it was hilariously fun to read. Some may compare it to a soap opera, but I found the inventive handling of a constant barrage of obstacles extremely entertaining.
I may not continue with this series, not because the writing is bad or that the plot needs work but because I expected it to be more romance less family drama. There is simply little to no romance anymore but a bitter rivalry for the throne..
