Seasonal silliness that I enjoy more for its evocation of Christmas than for any technical merit: it is competently written, competently illustrated and funny in parts but nothing more.
Jim, the sheepdog, is left in charge of the sheep when his owner goes to town. He falls asleep dreaming about winning the cup at the sheepdog trials and wakes up to find all the sheep have gotten out and are gone. He tracks them to town where they get into all sorts of trouble before he is able to round them up, but round them up he eventually does, and is cheered by all the town's folk. And he wins the cup at the trials as well. A funny, delightful book with charming illustrations.
A boy, a wayward dog, a cadaverous man and a metal detector conspire to bore readers witless.
