This is exactly what the title says - patterns for reconstructing Norse (specifically Greenland) garments. They go into the threads and weaves used as well so that if you want to start with spinning your own threads (from the right sort of sheep) on spindles and weave with a traditional vertical loom, you could do it, but they also have suggestions for making it easier on yourself.
BTW My husband is not going along with the idea of us getting a few pet Icelandic sheep, even if they would mow show more the lawn for him. show less

Pretty interesting. This author shows reproductions of some of the medieval garments found at Herjolfnes in Greenland. There are drafted out patterns to enlarge and discussion of fibers and weave structures and good photos.
It is a companion book to the [bc:Woven Into the Earth|1548351|Woven Into the Earth|Else Ostergaard|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1185052482s/1548351.jpg|1540683] book that came out several years ago. There is no new information that I could see just one person's show more reproduction of the garments. It is not necessary to have this to reproduce the dresses since all the info is in the prior book for anyone to use but it is clearly laid out here and it was interesting to see the thought processes another person went through to produce their own version of the dresses. show less
