From waking up to bedtime, it's a day in the life of Pooh, told in verse.

Except it's not a realistic day in Pooh's life as it has only lunchtime and suppertime, completely skipping breakfast and snacks. Also, Pooh is a social animal and none of his friends appear in this book, not even for playtime or craft time.

Well, actually, Piglet does appear in a dream during Pooh's naptime, sporting wings and a whistle as he flies with birds -- Wait! Is he an angel? Has Piglet died? Has everyone died? show more Is this a day in the life of post-apocalyptic Pooh?!?!?!

Suddenly, it just got interesting . . .

(My Pooh Project: I love Winnie the Pooh, and so does my wife. Having a daughter gave us a chance to indoctrinate her into the cult by buying and reading her every Pooh book we came across. How many is that? I’m going to count them this year by reading and reviewing one every day and seeing which month I finally run out. Track my progress here:

Pooh, Piglet and Roo persist in knocking at every door of a house in the Hundred-Acre Wood even though no one is answering. Weirdly, since it is a lift-the-flap book, the reader opens each door for the characters to show no one is there, but they politely do not enter the house to look around, they just go to the next door.

The solution of the missing occupant is pretty obvious from the start for devoted Pooh readers, but it is still amusing to watch it unfold.

A nice book of verse about opposites that are true to the characters depicted. It's good enough that I'm willing to ignore the weird little heart thing on the last page.

A pretty standard book of counting rhymes has Pooh taking tots from one to ten. There are sheep to count on every page, which may explain why I'm getting sleepy.

Ho-huuuuummmmm.

The illustrations are random images clipped from other Pooh storybooks.

(Pooh Project: Phase 2! I've managed to catalog all the shorter Pooh books my family owns (see the list here). While I work through few remaining longer Pooh books we own, I'm missing my daily dose of Pooh, so I'm going to start seeking out some of show more the Pooh books I don't own – yet – from libraries IRL and online. See the reviews here.) show less
