Holy crap, this is an amazing book. Much sitting down is needed after reading it... Angry, resurgent, observant, alarming and needful.
Couldn't quite get on with this book. The introduction was too "art historian" for my level of knowledge and many of the works were performance pieces represented by still photos with descriptions which made many of them sound juvenile and pretentious. Images of some of the static pieces did have more meaning to me, but again the descriptions seemed to refer to a closed-in art world aesthetic. Maybe that's what being an artist is all about, and I will never get it.
In depth history of Art and Feminism. Phaidon almost always does a great job with their books...
