Creepy panda on the cover notwithstanding, there are some cute ideas in this book. It would benefit from a new edition with photos.
ABCs of Serging: A Complete Guide To Serger Sewing Basics (Creative Machine Arts Series) by Tammy Young
When I first purchase my serger this book came in handy and some books I have to revisit from time to time. The ABCs Of Serging help me better understand this equipment when sergers first came out on the market for the home sewer. Well, now the year (2016) with the home sewing and manufacturing technology, electronics and computers who knows what more you can do with just this machine alone in the sewing industry.
This book is the quintessential guide for the new serger-user to get started. The techniques it illustrates are all useful, not necessarily intuitive to the beginner; and best of all, they are not brand-specific. The explanations are completely clear as to which stitches are most useful for which applications/fabric types. They are also clear as to which *type* of serger they apply to: 3-thread, 4-thread or 5-thread. The book does not cover the 8-thread models.
