A “not-so-normal fairy” and a bear shifter just sounded like too interesting a combination to try to resist. Adding elements like a paranormal-friendly town, notorious bad luck that gets worse one day a week, and an encounter that leads to seduction of the determined kind, and I was not going to let this one get away. Luckily the story turned out to be even better than I expected. I was pulled in not only by the fascinating characters and their extremely amusing antics, but also by the show more excellent supporting cast, the elements of suspense around Alli’s very persistent but mysterious enemy, and a romance that sizzles with tension and heat from almost page one.
Alli has been disowned by his traditional, homophobic family when they caught him with his lover and the lover accused Alli of seducing him against his will. Alli left the Fae realm to make his home on Earth, running a flower shop. It hasn’t been easy, especially because he is a Fayte and needs to bleed off his excess magic regularly – which he can’t do on Earth – or face an explosive release once a week. In his case, this means the worst bad luck you can imagine. Alli has given up all hope of ever having a partner; for one thing he wouldn’t want to subject them to his accident-prone self, and for another, he can’t believe anyone would want to stick with him once they figure it out.
Michael is a bear shifter looking for some peace and quiet, away from the city where his bear is deeply unhappy. He has bought a cabin in the woods somewhere in the mountains, but as soon as he enters the town, his car breaks down, he saves a cute stranger from being run over by a van, and gets pulled into the most incredible situations – starting with the local deputy telling him the stranger’s name is Alli and that Michael is responsible for making sure Alli survives the concussion obtained when falling over his own two feet – after the van had long departed.
Alli and Michael are super cute together. Alli is determined not to be tempted by the gorgeous man, mainly because he is sure he will leave anyway. Michael falls for Alli hard and fast and is equally determined for them to become lovers, maybe more. Alli tries not to get used to Michael protecting him- and gets angry when Michael overdoes it. Michael gets all growly because Alli won’t accept his help. With someone out to hurt Alli it quickly becomes apparent that Alli needs all the help he can get, but it doesn’t make it any easier for him – or their budding relationship - when Michael’s brothers turn up, intent on protecting both of them...
If you like your romances with lots of humor, action, and friendly family ribbing, if you want to watch two supernaturals from different species figure out how to work together, and if you’re looking for a read that is as hilarious as it is scorching, then you will probably like this novel as much as I do. It’s full of surprising twists and turns, refreshingly humorous, and the romance is passion-filled yet never mushy. I can’t wait for the next installment in this series!

Nxy's Pixie needs to come with a warning -- This book is the real deal - everything a reader could want in a story. Interesting well-developed characters, a plot with enough tension to keep it interesting, and a great cliff-hanger ending. Then that was when I discovered this author has not made an appearance since 2017. This cliff-hanger seems to be the end and I will be forever left 'hanging.'
This is a fun story about two best friends who dance around the issue that each one has quietly started to feel more for the other than friendship. While the setting of a snowed-in cabin isn’t new, it still works to bring out everything they normally don’t need to face. Both characters are fun and fit so well together that I suspect everyone else figured they should be a couple long before they did. This doesn’t mean there isn’t a whole lot of teasing and joking, but their show more familiarity with each other goes a long way to helping them deal with the ‘crisis’ when it finally happens.
Teddy may be a typical nerd, and prefers the company of one or two people, but he is also a loving and warm person when he lets himself. Pierce always has grand ideas and lots of friends, but he’s been using that to ‘hide’ from Teddy. There are more revelations when they finally talk, and I found them to ring true; all of them are likely reasons why Pierce acted the way he did.
If you like ‘friends to lovers’ stories, if reading about people snowed in and forced to face their inner truths attracts you, and if you enjoy a tale about hearts melting in front of a hot fire, you will probably enjoy this story.

This is one of those times when I really wish Goodreads would allow half stars. It is a 3.5 star read rated up, because it was definitely more than just 3.
This is another one of those books that has been sitting on my shelf for a while, and I honestly don't know why I didn't read it before. C'mon...sexy cowboys! Add a adorable kid to the mix and well...
I would have liked to have this one more fleshed-out so to speak. More background on both of the MC's. There seemed to be a lot going on for show more what is relatively a short book. But then again nothing was left unresolved, nor where things just swept under the carpet, so I suppose I shouldn't complain lol. show less
