This is a slow burner book. A few times I thought of abandoning it as it wasn't moving fast, but it builds and becomes very intriguing. Set in WWII London during the Blitz, Wilson weaves parallel stories of adultery and treason around the horrors of the time and the destruction of beautiful buildings, against the hierarchical society of the Inns of Court and the Court of Justice.

The plot is what the title implies. The beginning, in my opinion, seems weak and disconnected; but once the characters are set up, it flows really well and can be hard to put down. Very interesting turn of events, interesting characters, never a dull moment. Three and a half out of five.
