Roberts has produced a pictorial coffee-table-styled book which is more a compendium of memorable moments and personalities than a scholarly history of football on television. Chapters describe the early days and pioneers of TV footy, a brief overview of pre-TV radio coverage, the World of Sport TV program and the changing nature of football coverage, including some technical details on cameras and communication equipment. There are only a few pages devoted to football coverage outside show more Victoria, but this is a highly entertaining and nostalgic read, with verbatim extracts from memorable pieces of commentary. Programming details of all football shows are included in the chapter, 'Every Year, Every Show'. show less
