Michael Schmidt (3) (1945–2014)

Michael Schmidt's brand new series Frauen was especially conceived for the EXPO 2000 in Hanover, and portrays young women in their twenties who are still in the process of developing the characteristic features of a discrete individual identity.

Published on the occasion of the 1996 exhibition Michael Schmidt: U-NI-TY at The Museum of Modern Art, New York (also traveled to the Sprengel Museum, Hannover and the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen, Dresden). Michael Schmidt is one of Germany's most contemporary photographers. This book is a collection of images, about half of which are Schmidt's own, and half of which are taken from newspapers and other documents.
