In my opinion, I would recommend “Small Twig, Hiking and Camping Guide” to all children, even those who don’t enjoy being outside. This is a great book for many reasons. Whether you like being outside or not, this book gives you a complete guide of things you should always have packed and a list of “extra stuff” you may want to bring along as well. The illustrations in this book are very kid friendly, but the information is very valid. It includes information on some of the biggest show more national parks around the world, including trails like the Appalachian Mountains and the Grand Canyon. In order to grab the reader’s attention, the author included illustrations of talking animals, bright flowers, and words that line the edges of the pages. “Buck” the informational character guiding you through the book gives resourceful information on how to hike, how to build a campfire, what to cook over a campfire, what type of animal tracks to look out for, and different plants that you shouldn’t touch or that would substitute as food if you’re in need. Overall, the main purpose of this book is to give beneficial information about the outdoors, and I believe it can also spark an interest in exploring. show less
