Short biography
Peter Hunt grew up in New York and Athens, Greece before earning a history degree from Brown University and joining the Navy in 1985. He received his pilot wings in 1987 and was assigned to Naval Air Station Whidbey Island to fly A-6 Intruder all-weather attack jets. During his ten years of active duty, Hunt flew 2,180 hours, made 450 carrier-arrested landings, and completed three deployments to the Persian Gulf, Indian Ocean, and Western Pacific. Hunt was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and three individual Air Medals for combat action during the first Gulf War. He left active duty in 1995 and went to work as a pilot for one of the world’s largest airlines. In 2005, Hunt was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and was medically disqualified from flying. Peter Hunt lives with his wife and two children on Whidbey Island and continues to write.
