A teenage girl is forced to spend a semester alongside her professor father, mother, and younger brother in an old British manor house. While there, she discovers a distant family connection and also a portal to the past. This YA novel follows a stereotypical teen girl with little appreciation for her family, circumstances, or history. She becomes a more sympathetic character as the story develops and is improved by her time in the past. The portrayal of life in Elizabethan Era is show more interesting and imaginative, but the time travel and storyline loses steam in the end. show less
