Time to let this treasure go to a certain young family. I particular love the 'foster care' note hidden in the ending. Be sure to turn *every* flap; there are lots!
Summary:
This another adorable adaptation of a classic story! This follows Little Red riding hood on her journey to visit her sick grandma. She packs a basket full of goodies and sets off. The wolf startles the little girl, and goes on his way to grandma's house once learning her destination. Upon arrival, the wolf hides grandma and dresses up like her in attempt to get Little Red Riding Hood. Little Red is saved by a gentleman holding an axe who scares the wolf. She then finds grandma safe show more and sound.
Personal Reaction:
This such a cute way to get children to interact with the classic stories most generations have grew up on. I related to this story by thinking of all the times my parents told me not to speak to strangers. This helps children understand the dangers, and why it is important to not travel alone.
Classroom Extension:
1.) I could print out paper capes and allow each child to design their own. We would then discuss the importance of knowing when or when not to talk to strangers.
2.) We could prepare our own gift basket and donate it to a sick person in need. show less

Critique: This is a cute little book that has pop up throughout. It is a good book to get children thinking by having them guess what is behind the pop ups. I feel that children will enjoy having this book read to them.
Prompts: Have puppets to act out the book to make it more enjoyable to the students. Have a list of vocabulary words written out to go over with the students.
Craft Element:
Reading- Compare and contrast other versions of Little Red Riding Hood.
Reading- Making predictions. The book is a flip up book. This is a good way to ask students what they think is hiding behind the flip up. And also the way it is set up is a good way to simply ask the students what they feel will happen next in the book. show less
