This is a more ambitious book than the title indicates. It's also very clearly argued and well-written. The author aims not only to analyze historical science philosophically but also to reform the philosophy of science. This is an instructive book for anyone who believes that philosophy of science should be more than just the philosophy of physics. People interested in the epistemology of prehistoric studies should of course read it as well.
