Evolutionary Psychology as Maladapted Psychology (Life and Mind: Philosophical Issues in Biology and Psychology) by Robert C. Richardson
A sharp and convincing critique which exposes the grandiose claims of evolutionary psychology as pure speculation. The author's main argument is simply that there isn't nearly enough available evidence on our ancestral environment and social structures to construct scientific arguments about the natural selection of our present traits. Evolutionary psychology is an easy target to criticize, but this book is nevertheless a useful antidote to all the strange claims about our evolutionary show more heritage which are given far too much room in popular scientific magazines. show less
