A story about two boys in Brazil as they make friends and aspire to wear the captain's hat. The prose is spare, which allows for some beautiful writing, but at the expense of clarity. Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable book, even though confusing at times. I just found myself wishing for more words. This is one that might be better read aloud to children.
