By the second chapter this book became a relentless page-turner. By the fourth chapter our hero is a murderer. I'm restraining myself from looking at the ending to find out what happens. This is an old-fashioned "events spinning out of control" type of story. Think Barbara Stanwyck and Fred McMurray in a black-and-white film noir on the late show. And about that ending... totally unexpected.
