A charming little children's tale about the unique evolution of a being called the Glob, as over the eons he evolves from a shapeless thing, drifting in a prehistoric sea somewhere, into more and more advanced versions of genus Homo, dealing with the discovery of fire, singing, making weapons, art, and craving the companionship of others, canine and human. It's the kind of story that Walt Kelly could have written. But he didn't; John O'Reilly did, and at best it sometimes approaches the show more storytelling charm of Mr. Kelly. Walt Kelly did, however, do the very charming illustrations for the book. Kelly completist that I am, that's why I tracked down and bought this book. show less
