Mixing the "Word of God" with "The Shaping of America". Well... it's an interesting mess. Kind of apples and oranges. They are similar, but don't quite go together. It misquotes or has quotes "attributed to" many Founding Fathers that are wrong or are wrongly applied. It seems to be using the gravitas of the Bible to shore up the new sections (and of course, ignoring current research on Biblical history and writing). There are some thought-provoking ideas, but this needs to be two separate show more books. I'll avoid discussion of NKJV vs. other translations, but note that the Founding Fathers did not have NKJV. I have many commentaries on the Bible, but few (none) have the chutzpah to insert them directly into the Bible--even annotated Bibles are small discussions on particular verses, not inserting whole unrelated sections into the Books of the Bible. Blasphemy? Hmmm. With the current altering expired copyright trends, I'm hoping this is not the first step towards "The Old and New Testaments and Zombies". show less
Many call the United States a Christian nation, while others argue against this premise. Dr. Lee brings the history of the founding of the United States to light as he explains just what roll Christians had in the settlement of our country. We have watched our country slip further and further into debt, immorality has become the norm, and the loss of individual liberty grows daily. Average citizens are now rising up and taking action. Not a revolution of guns and war, but with responsible show more political action.

The Coming Revolution is more than just a history lesson. It is a call to action with specific positive approaches we can take to put our country back on the right path. The author doesn’t believe that it is too late to stop the downslide of America. History is not my usual genre, but the author explained just enough to hold my interest and explain his points. I liked that he talks about specific steps we can take to make a difference in a positive way and without violence. Even if we can’t do everything he lists, there are some things that we can all do.

Dr. Lee is a pastor and Christian speaker. His book represents the Christian perspective of how much it should mean to us to be an American and to possess not just the American spirit, but a personal spirit of independence. His outlook is one of optimism and not doom and gloom. The book contains pages of footnotes and is indexed for quick reference.

Note: I received an advanced reader copy of The Coming Revolution by Dr. Richard G. Lee in exchange for an honest review.

This book is very well-written. You can tell that the author speaks for a living. I found it interesting to read about the unrest in the country from a religious, instead of purely political, point-of-view. It gave me a new perspective on what is going on. I definitely think this would be a great book for a college poli sci or current events class.
The American Patriot's Bible is a unique new edition of the New King James Version. Filled with notes about America's history, it will cause you to think about our American legacy like never before.

What makes this Bible so unique is the nature of the notes. Unlike most study Bibles, where the notes are designed to give added insight to the Scripture text, this is really the other way around. The notes, set into the context of the Scripture, allow the text to give added insight to them. (The show more Scripture text, of course, stands on its own for study!) The only thing I dislike about the notes is the obvious reverence for Abraham Lincoln, an arrogant, power-hungry man who did irreparable harm to our nation. The notes are, as a whole, fascinating, and truly do inspire a sense of patriotism in the reader.

The book itself is very beautifully done. A blue hardcover, it contains some very classy images, and is primarily done in a lovely sepia ink (in addition to the black ink of the text). The front matter includes a number of family history pages, as well as some American history reference information. The back includes a list of American presidents, along with the standard maps and concordance. The notes are well-indexed.

I don't know that I would really consider this a "study Bible," but it is a beautiful edition. It would make a wonderful family Bible for any patriotic American couple, honoring both their national legacy (through the notes and images) and their family legacy (through the beyond-the-basics family history pages). It could also be useful as a study tool for Christian homeschoolers as they explore our history.
