In 1968 Mayor Daley ordered his police to squelch, by any means, the demonstrators protesting in Chicago during the 1968 Democratic Convention. The resulting riot was investigated by the Walker Commission, and the report is this book, illustrated with many photographs in addition. This book is a chilling indictment of what went wrong with much of American government in the late 1960's, and serves as a warning of what can happen when those in authority see protest as a threat to be stamped out.
