Thomas Kelly has published a several books of history and historical biography: a history of adult education in Great Britain, a biography of George Birkbeck, founder of the Mechanics' Institutes, and others. Ponderous, informative, useful - but not a book to read from cover to cover unless you really like that sort of thing. However, if you are interested in the history of adult ed (continuing ed, whatever - it's a very wide field) this book is important (though 30 years old!).
