This book is pretty okay, particularly if you're GPS-less or otherwise have no clue as to whether there'll be anything for fifty miles after your current exit. When you're about ready to despair at the thought of only being able to eat at McDonald's for the entirety of Pennsylvania, it can be a blessing.

But, if you are looking for something in particular (for instance, Ritter's Frozen Custard) be forewarned: we are in a time of economic contraction, and this book isn't particularly show more well-updated. For the record, there are no Ritter's in all of central Ohio, nor for most of the drive from Nauvoo, IL to Columbus, OH. This book thinks there are. This book is wrong.

Which isn't to say that I don't keep it in my car when I go places - I just also bring along a recently updated list of active locations from my favorite chains' websites. Because, there is nothing quite so sad as thinking you're about to get frozen custard only to realize that the place has been torn down and a tire service installed instead. show less
