This generously sized book tells the history of Cardiff Castle and by extension some of the history of the Bute family, who owned the castle up until the middle of the 20th century. It’s chock-a-block with prints, drawings, and photos, especially of the eye-popping murals and the gorgeous library. I visited the castle in 2017 and can attest to its loveliness in person; these photos brought back lots of good memories. The text of the book is laid out well, with only a couple of instances of show more sentences having to be carried over to another page. And I laughed at the foreword being written by Jimmy Page—yes, THAT Jimmy Page, from Led Zeppelin. Why him? Read the book to find out! show less
