The book is a thorough review of the history of the last years of the Irish Press newspaper group when Dr Eamon de Valera succeeded his late father, Vivion, as Managing Director. Frankly it is an utter tragedy to think that such a successful group of newspaper titles could have been so utterly mismanaged resulting in the decision to cease publication. Decisions such as the one to turn the Irish Press to tabloid as well as mishandling of staff relations at crucial moments would be critical. show more Ultimately a large cohort of the original readership base of the newspaper was alienated from it while it did not gain new readers.
