I read Owly and Friends Heartstrings and Ribbons. It is about the Owl and worm getting a kite in the mail. They start putting it together but some pieces go missing. They have to work together with friends to help create a solution for a tough situation.

I would much rather read books with words but for using just pictures I was very impressed. I don’t think I would use this in my class but I might have it in my library for my students to have access to a different style of book.

If I used show more this book in class I would have students go through and write quotes they think they characters would say if there were words. Also I would have students make their own short graphic novel. show less
3) No Awards

4) Pre-K-2nd

5) Owly decides to make a kite with his friend worm. As they are making it they realize they are having trouble getting it in the air. After several attempts they ask the help of birds who finally get the kite in the air.

6) An activity a teacher can introduce to the students is to ask them "Why is it important to be nice to others?" As a class every student should give an answer and share it with the class.
